Coming tomorrow — book sale fundraiser at the library parking lot

The Friends of Fallbrook Library book store (The Bottom Shelf) has been closed for the pandemic. However they’re having a sale and fundraiser tomorrow, Saturday from 9:30 am to 2 pm. In the parking lot below the library, 124 S. Mission Road.

Even though the book store has been closed, donations have been continuing to come in, so they’re piling up — lots of fabulous finds! books, DVDS, kids and adult material. Cash only.

D’Vine Path is a community that provides vocational and life skills to autistic and disabled people, right here in Fallbrook

Education at D’Vine Path creates an environment in which those with intellectual challenges can thrive, learn and feel empowered! Learning to grow food, participating in the process from seed to products, even selling at the local farmers market and donating to the local food pantry in town. The activities are lesson-based and include computer skills, art, marketing, cooking etc. Life skills being taught in a loving, supportive, positive place that the students look forward to participating in everyday builds their confidence to get out in the work force too!

Keeping Fallbrook Beautiful

The Fallbrook Beautification Alliance (FBA) helps keep our town nice, clean, and inviting. It takes many volunteers and hours to do all the work of keeping Fallbrook lovely. Everyone benefits from volunteering and when it is a community effort, we tend to be mindful of litter, cigarette butts, water waste, and treating our natural resources respectfully.

Imagine our parks, streams and preserves without folks to do the upkeep, it would be detrimental to the place we all love to call home! FBA works on grafitti removal, median flowers on Mission Road, downtown flower pots, battery recycling, trash cleanup — invisible things that keep our community beautiful. Donate or volunteer by going to www.fallbrookbeautifaction.org today. Thank you from Jerri Patchett and her colleagues of FBA.

The Fallbrook Land Conservancy — preserving our parks and open spaces

Susan Liebes, Chairman of the Board for the Fallbrook Land Conservancy tells us what we all can do to keep our precious parks and preserves pristine and clean. As with most of the activities we do to keep sane in times like these is to use the parks and hiking trails more than usually, which is absolutely wonderful, but it does mean more maintenance. The FLC does an incredible job of keeping our natural areas in great shape, so please be mindful to respect the rules and regulations of these recreational, and peaceful places so we all can enjoy them!

Fallbrook Farmers Market — check it out!

Here’s a little peek at the Fallbrook Farmers Market, sponsored by the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce. Open air markets are a safer way to enjoy shopping and getting back to some normalcy! Supporting local small businesses is a big part of why EverythingFallbrook.Org was created! Keeping our community thriving is all of our job! Keep up the great work everyone!

Wings of Change – Saving the Monarch butterflies

Stephanie Holbrook is the founder of Wings of Change, an organization dedicated to supporting California’s butterfly population. Without these uniquely beautiful little creatures, pollination would not occur. As with the bees and birds, butterflies are an important part of our ecosystem. Without them, our world would be a colorless, tasteless, and barren place.

From the New York Times (December 15, 2020): The monarch butterfly is threatened with extinction, but will not come under federal protection because other species are a higher priority, federal officials announced Tuesday.

From the Union Tribune (December 16, 2020): Without question, the Golden State is an epicenter of extinction.the over-wintering population of monarchs in California, which numbered more than a million in the late 1990s, has dropped to less than 2000 butterflies this year.

Check out the video above for some ways that you can help to support local butterfly populations.
