Finally — automatic emergency braking for new cars

For its size, Fallbrook has way too many pedestrian injuries and deaths. But it’s difficult given that many of our roads are rural-ish and speed limit enforcement is limited. When there’s no sidewalk (as on many Fallbrook roads), we are forced to walk/bicycle on the edge of the road, but the hilly terrain and limited sightlines mean we’re not very visible to drivers, even when they’re respecting the speed limit and watching carefully.

This is great news, that cars will automatically brake when they detect pedestrians or bicyclists. Fallbrook can’t afford to lose ANY of its citizens to pointless pedestrian or bicyclist accidents.

It’s not even going to make cars more expensive, because most new cars already come with the necessary equipment. Win-win!
