Kristen Spath’s concert at the library included a variety of great American songs from many eras

The Friends of the Fallbrook Library hosted a free concert by Kristen Spath on Tuesday. Spath considers herself a “Great American Song Book pianist” who shared a photo of herself as a young girl and her mother at the piano. Her repertoire includes jazz staples like Satin Doll and Moonlight in Vermont through showtunes like Send in the Clowns and Someone to Watch Over Me as well as pop/rock favorites like Both Sides Now and Just the Way You Are.

The audience was also treated to a 100 th birthday memorial tribute to Henry Mancini with a selection of Mancini’s most popular movie themes by Bob Freaney including “Moon River” and the theme from “The Pink Panther”. (In fact Freaney purchased the sheet music for his Mancini tribute at The Bottom Shelf bookstore which funds concerts, events and classes at the library!)

Here Jackie Heyneman, Jean Dooley and friends listen closely to great stories of performer Kristen Spath’s musical journey and her evolution as an accomplished pianist.
