Updated! Tighter COVID Shutdown for SD County

For SD county, starting November 14, restaurants, gyms, churches and movie theatres must stop indoor operations. Retail stores will need to keep customers at 25% of capacity. San Diego County’s case rate for COVID increased (from 6.5 to 8.9 cases per 100,000 residents) over the last two weeks and state officials have bumped the county into the purple tier.

These restrictions run for AT LEAST three weeks — til Dec 5 at the earliest. We will only get out of this tier and have fewer restrictions if we have two weeks in a row with a case rate below 7 cases per 100,000 residents.

The entire US is seeing staggering increases, with nearly 140,000 new cases on Tuesday Nov 10 — that’s a 34% increase over last week — and over 1400 deaths.
